The NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR) manages all departments of of the overarching framework across RSA alcohol courses, licensed clubs, charitable fundraising and gambling activities in Sydney and greater New South Wales.

RSA Sydney delivers responsible service of alcohol and responsible conduct of gambling courses on behalf of the OLGR.

The OLGR role includes overall policy direction and advice (including advising government on legislative change) in relation to all regulated activities, early intervention, education activities and co-ordination of licensing, compliance and enforcement functions.

The regulatory domains OLGR coordinate include:

  • Sale and consumption of alcohol (over 14,000 licensed premises including over 1,700 hotels)

  • Operation of licensed clubs (over 1,300 clubs)

  • Gambling (including 96,000 gaming machines, wagering, lotteries, keno, art unions and raffles with an annual turnover in excess of $40b and combined annual state tax contribution of $1.6b)

  • Charitable fundraising (there are in excess of 5,200 current fundraising licences).

OLGR services are provided through our head office in Sydney and regional offices in Newcastle and Dubbo.

They also provide secretariat and administrative support to the Responsible Gambling Fund and the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority.
